Simplicity 9178 - DIY Oversized SWeater

Hello everyone and HAPPY THANKSGIVING! I hope you all are having a nice and relaxing day with family and friends for those who celebrate this holiday and for those who don’t, I hope you enjoy your day as well!

In today's post, I am sharing one of the makes that I made this week which is this sweater that I made using Simplicity 9178! I love this sweater and the STATEMENT collar that it has!! The collar really elevates this look!

So I made this sweater for a few different reasons 1. I had been planning to make this and it was in my to make stack of patterns 2. It is SUPER cold here and I need more sweaters. 3. I had just made a project that turned into a fail and I needed a pick me up project 4. With it being cold, I wanted a LONG, cozy but feminine sweater! I truly enjoyed making this sweater once I got past the issues that I had figuring out how to attache the collar LOL! If you want to hear more about that, please watch the detailed YouTube review by clicking here!

Below you will find pictures of me in the sweater and I will also leave a pattern review below. Thank you for stopping by!

View: There are three views within this pattern: View A is a long straight tunic that could actually be worn as a dress, view B looks the same except for that it is shorter and has an A symmetrical hem. And view C has a straight hem that stops at the waistline. View that I cut: A FABRIC Recommendations: Stretch knits only such as sweater knit, interlock, bamboo and modal. Sewing Skill Level:Not rated but I would rate this as easy Pattern Pieces: I used four pattern pieces to make this top Notions Needed: Thread

Pattern Sizing: XXS-XXL

Size that I Cut: I cut a size Large, however, the finished pattern measurements recommended a medium, which would have been fine, but I wanted a draped and oversized look

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? For the most part yes, but the collar instructions were a little unclear due to the illustration. What did you particularly like about the pattern? I like how loose-fitting it is, I like the asymmetrical collar, I like the length variations, I like how there are no closures, and I love the dropped shoulders. What did you particularly dislike about the pattern? Nothing Did I learn any new Techniques: No Did I have a first time experience: Yes, this was my first time sewing an asymmetrical collar Fabric Used: Navy blue cable knit Purchased: Joan Fabrics
