A Patriotic Mommy & Me! New Look 6511, Simplicity 9194, Simplicity 9205

Hello everyone and Happy Independence Day!! Today I am sharing with you a Patriotic Mommy and Me sewing project!!! For as long as I can remember, my mother made us outfits for the 4th of July holiday and I love those memories so I decide to make my children something special to wear for the 4th and I incorporated myself!! I used three different patterns to achieve this look and I have reviews for all three patterns below. I used New Look 6511 for my shirt, Simplicity 9205 to make shorts for the older child and Simplicity 9194 to make shorts for the youngest! Pattern Reviews

Pattern Number: New Look 6511 (My Pattern)

Pattern Description: Misses’ Seven Sizes in One Sewing Skill Level: Easy

Pattern Pieces: I used three to make this garment Notions Needed: ½ inch wide, single fold, Bias tape, thread and a hook and eye or a frog closure

Pattern Sizing: 6-18

Size that I Cut: 18

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked the flow of the tunic, I like the length options, I like how high the neckline goes, I like the bias tape finishings and I like the gathers. Fabric Used: 100% cotton that was in the patriotic sections.

Purchased: Joan Fabrics on sale for 40% off

Alterations or changes: Because I am not an 18 and I didn’t want to alter the pattern to make it a size 20, increased the length of the back opening by two inches to make sure that I could get the shirt on easy. Would you recommend it to others? Yes!

Reason for making: It is a simple sew, I’ve had it in my stash for a while and thought this would be a perfect time to make it, especially for the holiday because the flow of the tunic gives me that wiggle room to expand while eating!! LOL Earrings: Chandalierz

Shoes: Sketcher sandles

So for the boys, I used Simplicity 9205 for my three year old and I used Simplicity 9194 for the youngest. These patterns are pretty much identical for the pants/shorts.

Size that I Cut: 3 for s9205 and XS for s9194 Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope? Yes
