McCall's 7968

October 25, 2019

Welcome back to the blog!
Today's post is all about this cute shift dress that I made using McCall's 7968 (you can find the pattern here).

This pattern is one of the newer dress patterns that McCall's came out with.
I was drawn to the pattern because I am a fan of shift dresses AND the pattern has four different sleeve variations!

I purchased this fabric because I love the flowers and I felt that fabric was perfect for Fall.

Shift dresses are usually pretty easy to make and this was exceptionally easy.  However, there was a pattern piece that I cut out that I have never used with a pattern before... That pattern piece  is called a sleeve head (see picture below).

Knowing that I had not used this piece in a pattern prior, I took my time to read the instructions ahead of time to know how to assemble it.
It was easy peasy and the mystery of wondering how some puffy sleeves kept the "poof" structure was solved!!
(Sleeve head folded and gathering stitch applied below)

(Sleeve head after gathers were pulled below)

Overall, this was a very nice and easy pattern.  It was nice to ease back into sewing a dress for myself and be satisfied without a whole lot of steps. Below you will find more pictures and a pattern review. Thank you for stopping by!!!
