McCall's 5400 (OOP) Cover Up Swim Wear

Welcome back to the blog!!

If you didn't know, I am a beach girl..... I love the beach!!! Although I am big and pregnant, I still want to go to the beach but without everyone looking at my belly.

With that being said, I had originally purchased this McCall's 5400 pattern to make a bathing suit but I used the cover up pattern instead so that I could feel free to walk on the beach without people looking directly at my baby bump.

I purchased this sheer, stretchy fabric with palm tree prints from A to Z Fabrics in Fort Lauderdale, Florida three years ago while on vacation.
It was very simple to make as it only had a front, back, arms, and front and back facing.

I did sew the facing on but it did not look right AT ALL.

I cut it off and made a narrow hem around the neckline.
The only thing that I did different was adding the pom poms.  I did that to make it look fun!

Pattern Number: McCall’s 5400
Pattern Description: Misses’ Bikini and Cover up
Pattern Sizing: 4-18

Size That I Cut: 14

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope?  Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I am pregnant, so I love the fact that the cover up is already wide and flows and it did not need to be altered for me to fit the dress.
Fabric Used: A yellow floral cotton linen mix

Where was the Fabric Purchased? A to Z Fabrics in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (Three years ago).

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
The front facing looked very odd, so I cut it out and made a narrow hem around the neckline.
I also added pom poms.

Would you sew it again? Yes

Would you recommend it to others? Yes
