I have been eye-balling the pattern for a while. I actually picked it up a long time ago but I never made an attempt to make it. I was drawn to this dress because I am attracted to more simple but yet chic styles.
While going looking through Instagram, there were to different profiles that I follow that inspired me to go ahead and sew this dress. Those two profiles are @feesewcrafty (Felcia Thomas) and @rallydfashionfanatic (Raliat Ola-Dauda). Their dresses were so absolutely cute and I decided to make it for my grandmother's 90th birthday party!!!
I am not very taken to the color red, especially as bright as this dress is but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I love the color on me. You may be wondering why I even purchased this color if I haven't had much luck with it..... well, it was the only color in Ponte Knit that Joan Fabrics had in stock and I didn't want to wait for a mail order to be delivered. It worked out well!
I absolutely love this dress and I would like to make it in as many colors as possible LOL!
One other thing that I love about the dress is the fact that it does not cling to my body. I use to enjoy wearing more fitted clothes but I am moving in the opposite direction.... for right now :-).
This dress was very, very simple to put together and I really enjoyed the making of the sleeves.
I've seen sleeves like this on dresses before but this is the first time that I have made the sleeves to come all the way up to the neck line diagonally. Please see below.
There were many variations of this dress to make but I decided on view D because I like the bigger neck collar. Please see the variations below.
Overall, this was a great sew for me and I plan to make several more!!
