Halter Dress Simplicity 1159

Today’s post is about this Mimi G Style, Simplicity halter dress that I made.

When I saw the pattern to this dress, I immediately fell in love with it and knew that I wanted to make it!!

I had not lined a dress before which caused some apprehension, so I went to Simplicity’s Youtube page and found the sew-along video that goes with this pattern.  You can find the video here. Following the video really helped and I feel that having that extra tool is a great advantage on Mimi’s brand.

Although I like the dress and I like how it looks on others that have made it, I don’t think it was a total win for me.
My reason for feeling that way is because I am top heavy and the fabric that I used wasn’t the best choice for this style of dress and my body type.  As a result, it looked baggy on me.
A better choice would have been a fabric with a little stretch (so that I could cut a smaller size), to accommodate the top portion of my body being heavier than the lower portion.

On a brighter note, I was able to take this dress on vacation with me and my hubby and I took pictures with me wearing it!!  It appeared to be more fitted (because of sitting), on the picture so I was pleased with I the results!

Although this was not a total win for me (because of the fabric), I wouldn’t be opposed to trying it again with a different choice fabric.
