Hello and welcome back to the blog!! Today’s blog post is about this beautiful Kimono dress by McCall’s Pattern Company Vouge pattern!! The pattern number is V9253 and can be found here.
I was inspired to make this dress because Monica Monyo – Tetteh @thatsewmonica and Felecia Thomas @feesewcrafty posted this pattern on Instagram as their monthly sew-a-long for their “It’s Sew Your View” challenge!!
This was my first time sewing a Vouge pattern... Many people have talked against Vouge patterns because some have found them to be difficult, but my experience with this pattern was great!!!
It is an “easy” Vouge pattern and it is just that!!
I love the fabric print that I used but I did have a hard time matching up the patterns at the seams because the fabric moved a lot.
I also thought this dress would be perfect to use as one of my garments for my dinner during my vacation!

You will also find the pattern review below that describes the details in alterations to the pattern!!!
Pattern Number: Vouge 9253
Pattern Description: MISSES' DEEP-V KIMONO-STYLE DRESSES WITH SELF-TIE
Pattern Sizing: 4-26
Size That I Cut: Large (16-18)
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved the length of the dress and how it drapes.
I did not care for the deep-v due to my bust size.
Fabric Used: Rayon Challis
Where was the Fabric Purchased? Joan Fabrics
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Yes
1.) I sewed the deep-v up about 5 inches higher that what the pattern called for because I am top heavy and I did not feel comfortable bearing my chest the way the pattern suggests.
2.) I purchased a trim from Joan Fabrics that I added around the deep-v for a more dramatic look (and to make up for sewing the deep-v closed).
Would you sew it again? Yes
Would you recommend it to others? Yes
